"All three patches promote the merits of boating and fishing and create a deeper appreciation for the outdoors," said RBFF President and CEO Frank Peterson. "We want to inspire newcomers to get active and develop leadership qualities to ultimately protect the legacy of the sport and the future of our nation's waterways."
RBFF will reach out to the Girl Scouts of the USA to try to do a similar program nationwide. Currently, RBFF grants aquatic education funds to FishHer - Fishing Gear for Women - an organization that educates girls who are actively involved in the Girl Scouts. Offered initially to the Nebraska Girl Scouts as a pilot program, FishHer plans to expand its Go Fish Girls! Scout Fishing Participation Patch Program to five additional states including Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma and North Carolina.
